Job description

To provide a safe, stimulating & caring environment, of the highest quality for children aged 6months - 11years, within the dedicated crèches and clubs. To ensure that the crèches and clubs are providing a safe and child-friendly environment for family holidays and that all elements of the family service deliver on our brochure promises.
To oversee the running of the childcare setting working and liaising with your Resort Manager Childcare and ensuring team work is being carried out at all times within your team.
Crèche/Club operates from 0830- 10pm, six days a week on rota basis, a free evening crèche/babysitting one night from 7.30 - 10pm combined with some additional evening clubs & babysitting.
This role is supervising and guiding a team of childcare staff as well as working alongside them.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities

Customer Focus
Review & monitor weekly & monthly CSQ results from RM Childcare in conjunction with set targets.
Regular discussions with staff ensuring improvements if necessary.
Solve problems efficiently & quickly that may arise in the crèche/club and ensure there is an environment that allows parents to feel comfortable to discuss any problems they may have.
Welcome parents into resort with Welcome Meetings & WOW. Assessing the 'Family Welcome' content, with childcare staff, and amending where necessary & if applicable to resort.
Ensure Information Boards are fully up-to-date, adhering to correct company branding.
Ensure resort has sufficient welcome cards, in comparison to weekly arrivals.
Ensure Company branding guidelines are adhered to at all times.
Cascade any new information to staff as & when necessary, regarding brand changes.
Ensure customers receive correct merchandise.
Liaise & respond to Customer Services (UK) as & when required regarding customers letters.
Advise & liaise with hotel entertainers to ensure a suitable family programme is devised.
Advise and liaise with Hotel/Chalet Manager to ensure all equipment is in place and procedures are being followed.
Ensure activities are being carried out as advertised to customers and children.

Communication
Ensure that all crèches/clubs comply with the MAG Crèche/Club Policy.
Weekly monitoring to ensure hygiene, cleanliness, maintenance, standard of equipment are all maintained. Report findings to RM Childcare & team.
Liaise with Hotel Managers & Chefs on a weekly basis to discuss following weeks arrivals, and children's menu ideas.
Work with RM Childcare to ensure the global cot grid is updated & correct information is recorded.
Monitor the quality of food served to children, both lunches & early suppers.
Liaise with RM Childcare and discuss any outstanding issues, weekly arrival figures, forthcoming weekly rota's and maintenance etc.
Devise staff rotas to incorporate daily & evening hours, babysitting, staff day off, deep cleaning, cot/highchair rotation & airport crèche (if relevant).
Escalate or communicate to RM Childcare all issues that may have occurred throughout the week.
Escalate any booking issues to RM Childcare.

Commercial
Responsible for accounting extra revenue sales ensuring the correct paper work and procedure is being followed.
Liaise with RM Childcare on spaces available for ad-hoc sales.
Ensure that all budgeted allowances are adhered to - food/cleaning/staff welfare.
Promote all childcare services to parents & other customers in resort to generate extra revenue, but ensuring that children's ratios are adhered to at all times.
Recommend ideas to RM Childcare, that could improve service offered, resort operations and the childcare brands.
Responsible for any DVDs owned by Film-bank, allocated at start of season.
Analyse competitor activity in resort & update RM Childcare on findings.
Completing brochure accuracy at beginning of season & highlighting any errors to RM Childcare.
Complete weekly shopping for crèches/clubs.
Liaising with the resort reps and generating sales within resort, if sufficient space in crèche/club.
Promote family cards at the Welcome Meeting regarding local prices.
Ensure communication with reps/resort admin to ensure RSV are inputted on weekly basis.
Give advice & guidance to the reps if they intend to facilitate a children's après-ski evening.

People Management
Assist with all aspects of country training course - planning, setting up, delivering of sessions, evening entertainment.
Liaise with Resort Manager to finalise & arrange staff accommodation prior to staff arriving.
Assist with Personal Development Reviews and address any under-performance issues and areas of strength using action plans to monitor this.
Monitor all working standards across all crèches/clubs to ensure high standards.
Act as an advisor on complaint solutions across the programme on childcare issues.
Brief the team & liaise with VIP's, journalists, film crews, photographers, press trips etc.
Action plan for sudden staff shortages.
Assist RM with team motivation and ensure all staff fulfil their ambition to work overseas.

Personal
Providing the best possible childcare, & ensuring that all the children's basic needs are met - feeding, changing, stimulating fun & safe play.
Constant monitoring & recording to feedback to parents at the end of the day.
Reach or exceed CSQ return targets set by RM Childcare at beginning of the season.
Full understanding of the childcare manual and crèche specification & suggesting improvements.
Ensure that the service offered is the service advertised - staff will have to offer free nights.

Own time management, and ensure all set deadlines are met.
Resort dependant - ensuring all working rotas are maintained & adhered to ensure the adult:child ratio's are never jeopardised.
Be a flexible member of the team - may need to cover in the club or within other departments, if numbers require.
As a 'fully qualified' member of the childcare team, taking ownership to ensure children are being cared for by staff with the correct qualifications if staff have to leave the crèche setting for any reason.

Operations
Ensuring all childcare policies are complied with at all times.
Liaising with ski schools and ensuring the security of children in our care at all times.
Preparation of children's lunches & snacks, adhering to BFH guidelines.
Adhering to crèche/club ratio's at all times - reporting any over-bookings prior to arrival.
Planning a full & varied week consisting of a range of activities & informing parents of daily activities - age dependant.
Weekly rotation of all crèche/club equipment, ensuring it is displayed in an appealing way.
Regular stocktaking of equipment & ensure any faulty equipment is disposed of.
Arranging within team, ski-school pick up locations & timings, if covering in club.
Being fully aware of other team members roles and be willing to help out if required.
On rotation, may be required to cover the airport crèche in France.
Ensuring that crèche is cleaned on a daily basis, & left clean & tidy for the following day.
Weekly deep clean & sterilisation of the crèche, prior to new arrivals.
Monitor the standard & quality of children's meals, both lunches & suppers.

Key relationships (internal & external contacts)

Line Manager: Agreeing personal & work objectives, skills management and personal development, sharing best practice, placements, on the job training, support.
Childcare Manager: Consultation, branding, QA, customer services, MI, incidents, H&S, duty office, HR.
HR: Performance Management, recruitment, training, disciplinary procedures, payroll.
Resort Staff: Communication, covering other job roles if needed.
Property owners: Meeting at BOS & EOS to ensure smooth opening & closedown, thorough inventories of property, notification of any problems.
Suppliers: Ski-schools & instructors, & ski-hire shops.

Key skills, knowledge, experience and competencies

Childcare staff should hold a relevant childcare qualification - NNEB/BTEC/CACHE/NVQ3 or equivalent.
CRB clearance.
Valid first aid certificate.
Excellent previous employee references.
Previous childcare supervisory experience (working in a day-care setting, within a private family, or been a member of overseas childcare team in the past).
A loving & caring personality who enjoys working with children, and is looking for a new challenge overseas Mature & independent attitude.
Some experience of working long/unsociable hours would be an asset.
Evidence of either living away from home/ and or travelled without family.

Technical Skills 1: Appropriate qualifications and experience in childcare - Qualified level 3 or equivalent.
