Assessment centre information

We will be running regional assessment centres in various cities all over the UK from June up until late October. If you are unable to make any of these locations on the specified dates, don't worry we will also have assessment days in our Kingston office throughout the summer, so please liaise with our Recruitment Team to organise a date to suit you.
Our general recruitment days are for the roles of Chalet Host, Resort Rep, Kitchen Porter/Night Porter, Hotel Host and Childcare. All other roles are assessed on role specific days.
You must bring the following with you to the assessment centre: (Photocopies & Originals)
  • A copy of your application form
  • 12 day menu plan (Chef roles only)
  • Passport
  • Proof of National Insurance number
  • Proof of UK bank account
  • Proof of UK address - Utility Bill
  • Calculator

Presentations

Resort Rep & Weekend Rep

Please deliver a one minute presentation in a welcome meeting format on one of the ski resorts that appear in any of our ski brochures i.e. where it is, what activities are available within the resort, size of ski area etc. We are looking for enthusiasm and a realistic welcome meeting presentation that would make guests comfortable and informed about the resort.

Reps Supervisor

Please deliver a two minute presentation on one initiative you would introduce within your team to maximise Après sales and customer satisfaction questionnaire results.

Resort Manager –Reps

Please deliver a five minute presentation on: initiatives and ideas you would introduce within your team to maximise après sales and customer satisfaction questionnaire returns and performance scores.

Chalet Host

Please deliver a one minute presentation in a welcome meeting format on one of the catered chalets that appear in any of our ski brochures i.e. where it is and what chalet services you provide., We are looking for enthusiasm and a realistic welcome meeting presentation that would make guests comfortable and informed about the chalet.

Chalets Supervisor

Please deliver a two minute presentation on incentives you would introduce to ensure staff motivation throughout the season and steps you would take to ensure a chalet’s food expenditure stays under budget without compromising customer service and brochure promises.

Resort Manager - Chalets

Please deliver a five minute presentation on initiatives you would introduce to ensure a chalet’s food expenditure remains within budget without compromising customer service or the brochure promises.

Hotel Host & Kitchen Porter/Night Porter

Pick any item which is found in a hotel and sell it to us in one minute. We are looking for enthusiasm, confidence and the ability to communicate in a professional manner.

Hotel Supervisor - Housekeeper

Please deliver a one minute presentation on initiatives you would introduce to ensure your team’s motivation throughout the season, (i.e. they’ll be performing the same tasks each day for 6 months).

Hotel Supervisor - Restaurant

Please deliver a one minute presentation on initiatives you would introduce within the restaurant to ensure excellent customer service.

Hotel Supervisor - Bar

Please deliver a one minute presentation on initiatives you would introduce to maximise sales within the bar, (i.e. what would you offer to stop customers going into town)

Assistant Hotel Manager & Hotel Manager

Please deliver a five minute presentation on: initiatives you would introduce to ensure customer satisfaction within the Hotel and remaining within budget whilst hitting targets.

Resort Manager - Childcare

Please deliver a five minute presentation on how you would motivate staff when there is low morale, being realistic in regards to budget and staff committed working hours.

All candidates applying for childcare roles will need to be CRB checked. The necessary forms will only be completed at interview so please ensure you bring with you hard copies / originals of the following:

All other Childcare Roles

You will need to prepare and present a child's mobile using only two colours, ensuring their development is being considered and also adding in a character about yourself. You have one minute to present this explaining the features and benefits of the mobile to us at the assessment centre.

All candidates applying for childcare roles will need to be CRB checked. The necessary forms will only be completed at interview so please ensure you bring with you hard copies / originals of the following:
  • First Aid Certificate
  • All relevant qualifications

All Chef Roles

You will be required to present your selection of canapés to the other candidates. This will be used to assess your catering, creativity and presentation skills during the interview.

ALL ROLES - Things to know...

You need to arrive promptly at 9.30am for a 10am start, and need to be prepared to stay with us for the whole day. After submitting your application and all documentation on arrival, you will be required to successfully pass various exercises and assessments to progress onto the next stage of our recruitment process.

For all roles, you’re expected to deliver your presentation to the other applicants to assess your ability to communicate and present. Presentations are individual to the role you are applying for. Note that we expect all applicants to dress appropriately for an interview, i.e. No trainers or jeans. Any applicants not dressed accordingly may be turned away.

Chefs - things to know prior to interview...

Chefs should bring either a selection of canapés (enough for two people) or a cold starter that you have prepared yourself. Please avoid using nuts or nut traces in your dish. This will be used to assess your catering, creativity & presentation skills during the interview. Chefs should also bring with them original and copies of:
  • Hygiene qualifications
  • Catering qualifications, NVQ, 706 etc...
  • 12 day menu plan - 3 course evening meal with vegetarian option

Booking your assessment

You may find that there are only a limited number of assessment day places open at this time due to a high volume of applications. Please log back in on a regular basis to view the new spaces as they arise. Due to the high demand for attending our assessment days, we kindly ask that if you book in and then find that you can't attend, that you advise us at the earliest opportunity so we can open that space to other candidates. If you leave it less than 48 hours before the assessment day to tell us we may not be able to offer you another space.
